During the month of October, the Wacom Pen Scrappers website is sponsoring a special contest called “Season of Hope” commemorating everyone whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. Lori Barnhurst designed this beautiful kit in remembrance of her grandmother, who battled breast cancer most of her adult life, and died about 10 years ago from complications from a relapse.

Wacom will be making a donation to the Oregon and SW Washington affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to honor each person who enters the Season of Hope contest. The Grand Prize winner will also take home a big prize package including: a Bamboo Craft, and special gifts from Shutterfly, Jessica Sprague, Scrap Orchard, Anna Aspnes, iStock and more! And there’s more: everyone who enters this contest will receive a very special 16x20” poster collage from Shutterfly.

Ok, I didn't blog yesterday...but hey....I am now....that's pretty good for me! I just can't believe how swamped I have been! I have been working so much in the store that I have just not had much time for anything else!!

We will be starting up many of our challenges on Wednesday....just 2 more days!!! I actually have 2 new kits that I am working on....I HAVE to get them done by Wednesday because they are to be incorporated in the challenges that I am hosting!!

We are also starting to plan our STORE GRAND OPENING!!! It is going to be so much fun. We will have tons of prizes, special challenges, sales...did I mention prizes??

We are now up to 16 designers! We are so lucky to have such a diverse group of ladies (excuse me....ladies and 1 gentleman!!) We have designers and CT members.....and just members from ALL OVER THE WORLD. Not only are we all from different places, but we all have such different styles and are able to offer a little of something for everyone at our store!

Well....I guess I better quit blogging *FOR NOW* so that I can get to working on those 2 new kits!!

Ok, I am a BAD BLOGGER!! It has been forever since I've blogged and forever even before that!! I am going to TRY to blog EVERYDAY...it may be a short post but I am going to try to do SOME kind of blog each day!!

It's been awhile

Wow, it has been a tremendous amount of time since I have blogged....or really done anything scrap related. My "REAL" life so got in the way....so first and foremost, I apologize for just dropping the ball with EVERYTHING.

I had a lot of very personal issues come up and it just forced me to basically ignore my scrapping and digital "life".

I think that everything is squared away and back to normal (if it ever was :) ) For right now, I will be working on getting my Scraps with a Mouse store all up and going again....and work on getting rid of a bunch of spam that crept in the gallery, forum, and even the store. Right now this is the only store that I will be at, and for the time being, I will be the only designer.

I will be looking to expand the store and bring in new designers and team members, but I want to make sure that I have everything up and running smoothly first.

Thanks to all that have been there for me and I look forward to a better year!!!

I know it has been FOREVER since I have blogged. I have just been INCREDIBLY busy! School just keeps me so busy when in session. I just finished my third quarter and look forward to some time off. I don't start my summer quarter until July 15 and then I have decided to take only web based classes for the summer. I figure that will keep me from being tied down to GOING to classes for the summer. We can sleep in, go swimming, or just whatever without having to plan it around my school schedule!

My BIGGEST and BEST news is another major thing that I have been working on and keeping me from blogging......

In Tribute to my Pawpaw

Yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of the loss of my grandfather.

He was the most amazing man and I miss him so much.

These are some layouts of him that I did right after his passing.

Working on them really helped me work through some of my grief and I thought

that it would only be right for me to use them to help me

get through a rough spot!

So, here they are!

The above and below layouts were done using a kit by BooLand Designs. I no longer have the kit, external hard drive crash!! So, I can't give the proper credit unfortunately.

The top layout was done right after his passing and was posted at his memorial.

My cousins and siblings either called him Poppy or Pops, but from the time that I was a very little girl, I always called him Pawpaw.

The below layout is of him and my grandma. They were taking pics together for their 40th wedding anniversary, when they renewed their vows.

This last layout was done using my Retro Funk kit. It is of my grandfather and my oldest son.

The last summer that my grandfather was with us, my oldest 2 children spent the summer in Arkansas and got to spend some time with him. I am so glad that they got to enjoy him that last summer. This picture was so funny because they hadn't seen my grandparents in about 8 or 9 months and my son was shorter than my grandfather the last time they had seen each other before this pic. Thanks for looking.

Blogging for Breast Cancer....and FREEBIES

First of all, let me apologize to all the Divine Digital members that were expecting these on the 15th and 16th. I somehow got the dates wrong and am soooooo sorry!!

As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Everywhere you turn, I am sure that you are finding some of your favorite products in new pink packaging. At Divine Digital, we decided that we also wanted to help raise awareness. We are calling our event the "Passionately Pink" Event. Be sure to check out what we have going in the forums at Divine Digital. We have many activities this month focused on helping raise awareness. Many of the designers at Divine Digital have contributed to a HUGE MEGA KIT. ALL the proceeds from the sale of this kit will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Buttons for BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

I know that pink isn't normally a color that you would associate with a teenage boy, I know I don't. I don't like pink on men and boys at all either. Before I finished this LO, I even made sure that it was ok with him that I use it. I actually decided that I wanted to do this LO when he came home from school wearing the Breast Cancer Awareness buttons that are shown in the LO. I was very proud of him that he would wear the buttons and show his support for such a great cause.

I'm not sure how many people know this, because I haven't really talked about it much, except to my immediate family, but I just started back to school on October 2. I have been out of high school for 16 years. I have wanted to go back to school for a very long time. When I first decided just to do it, I really thought that I would just take some online classes here and there and then eventually get my degree over a fairly long period of time. But, my husband encouraged me to go ahead and take real classes on campus and to go FULL TIME! He thought that I should go and get the whole experience of going to college. I'm glad that he encouraged me to, because I am really enjoying "the whole experience"!! Since I am now going back to school, that is something that I am passionate about. And to show this off, I decided to make a couple of LO's to show off all my PINK SCHOOL SUPPLIES!!!

Last but certainly NOT LEAST, one of my most important passions is my family. So, I decided to do a LO showing this passion. Since I'm staying with the pink theme, I decided to include my girls and niece (all wearing some pink) and then some flowers in our garden.

NO INTERNET

I swear, when it rains, it POURS....literally and figuratively!!!! So, we have been having some pretty bad storms here. We even had to go to the basement and take shelter and the city's warning sirens went off for a tornado! There wasn't actually one but we had lots of damage in the area with trees falling and such. Well, in one storm part of one of our trees fell on the neighbors fence. Then a couple days later another piece took out wires to our house! Luckily, none were the power lines but cable, phone etc....anyway, they have been so busy with all the damage that it has been kind of slow going. First my landlord had to get over and get their portion of the damage cleaned up and repaired before the cable company could come out and work on their issues. Well, happy to say that we should be all up and running full throttle again on Monday!!! I have been going sooooo stir crazy around the house with NO internet (and the kids with no cable) First it was my puter then get it back and no internet!!

ANYWAY....my brother and his family are here now and they have been keeping me very busy. I have 8 kids in my house right now ages 14, 12, 7, 7, 6, 5, 5, & 2!!! But they are pretty good kids and they are starting to get used to the way we do things around our house and so things are coming together pretty well. I have been using alot of paper plates though!!

I also have a new camera. We got a new one in October and LOVED it. But we had problems with it. We took it in and traded it for the same model several times but we kept having the same problem with a lens problem over and over. So, we finally decided to go to a different model and upgraded in the process. I LOVE my new camera and the pics it takes are amazing. I have taken about 1,000 pics of all the kids just since my brother has been here. I have LOTS to scrap now and have a few layouts in process.

Well, hopefully, everything will go smooth and I'll be up and running on MONDAY....wish me luck!!!

SCHOOL's OUT!!!

Wow, today is the last day of school for my children. I've been teary eyed and emotional all day. First of all, today is the last day of middle school for my oldest son. He goes to high school next year and even made a comment about it this morning. I just think that 9th grade is too young to actually be in a high school setting. In Arkansas, they are still in Jr High in 9th grade! But anyway!!!!! Not only that but today my baby graduates from Kindergarten! This is the first year that the school has done a Kindergarten Graduation...so the other two kids that have went to kindergarten at this school are feeling a little left out...but I guess that happens sometimes! We will be leaving soon, we are going to pick up a flower bouquet for her and have to pick up the big kids from school on the way to the graduation.

I also did a COMPLETE overhaul on my blog today. Tell me what you think! I think that it looks sooo much better. I designed all the graphics. I started out with a free BLOGGER template that I downloaded online but I changed up quite a bit of it to make it my own.

The only problem is that the images in my previous posts are quite large, and don't quite fit now. So the previous posts don't look so great. But I have all the sizes down right now, so I shouldn't have that problem again!

So, I finally registered a domain name. I have wanted to get my own site for awhile. I won't be opening my own store for awhile really. And my own site for now is pretty much going to be practice for me! :) I also got one for my husband's DJ Business!

I haven't even begun to build the site. I just got the domain name and working on setting up my own email address using my domain name. I have been playing around and got an FTP all set up too. I am very proud of myself!!

I am so excited, I am getting several responses for my CT Call. I feel very honored that these ladies want to work with my designs. They are very talented and I can't wait to make a decision...a hard one (not that I am trying to hurry the process) I just mean that it will be a relief to have a real CT that can help me get my name out there. I have one CT member, MARGIE, that has been helping me out and I love her work. But I decided that it was time to get a TEAM together. I am trying to really get more into designing and getting my designing business going. I treated it more like just a hobby.

Well the Holidays are officially upon us. This is my favorite time of the year (except for the cold weather!) We are having a great day at our house so far and the food is all cooking....and the kids are driving me crazy with the "is it done yet"s!

I have great news, I have accepted a position as a designer at Do It Digi!!! I actually am working on getting my kit previews remade so they don't have the HODS logo any more. I am a digital designer looking for a new home. I was designing at Hooked On Digi Scrap (HODS). But as of October 1, the owner has closed the store. I am very sad about that because I really enjoyed chatting with the people in the forum there!So....I am redesigning my blog, and starting my posts all over. I don't think it makes much sense to have posts about sales and releases of new items...that are no longer there.
